Assistance League funds

Hinsdale-based Assistance League of Chicagoland West received $16,000 of the total $35,000 raised at the Rotary Club of Darien's 27th annual Pot 'O Gold charity auction held March 19 at Ashton Place in Willowbrook. The auction, which raised funds for several Rotary charities, designated the league Operation School Bell philanthropy as the recipient of its "fund-an-item" program. Guests made bids to directly support Operation School Bell, which in 2010, provided 1,546 new winter coats, hats and gloves to students at or below the poverty line in 19 DuPage County elementary and middle schools.
