Helping Hand Center pitches in for Operation Early Reading

Despite the fact that our building lost power from the storm, Operation Early Reading had a very productive day on Tuesday, June 25th cleaning backpacks with the help of five volunteers and their coordinators from Helping Hand Center in Countryside and five  Assistance League^® member volunteers!   

We cleaned over 450 backpacks and were able to stuff them with  crayons and pads of paper.  They are ready to be filled with books in August!  It was such a pleasure to be in the company of these volunteers who were incredibly enthusiastic, hardworking and endearing...they even sang a song to us before they left!  Thanks to the Helping Hands coordinators Carolyn Kline and Claudia Flores and their volunteers Mark Grant, Richard Mercek, Joe Corbitt, Susan Janca and Paula Bucher.  Thanks also to Heather Laughman, Barb Grand, Sally Rozak, and Becky Moats!!
